Pondo ng Pinoy first-ever song writing contest held

Pondo ng Pinoy Community Foundation Inc. (PnPCFI) in line with the celebration of its 16th anniversary and 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines conducted its first-ever Songwriting Contest, which aimed to engage the public on the vision of Pondo ng Pinoy through music and to sustain the commitment and support of Pondo ng Pinoy stakeholders.

With the theme “Pondo ng Pinoy: Symbol of Compassion, Hope and Solidarity,” entries revolved around the message of hope, encouragement, love of God and neighbors, compassion, solidarity amid the desolation, and despair.

The competition opened to all novice, amateur, and professional Filipino songwriters as well as solo and group participants. All entries were the original composition of the participants and were based on the following genres: Pop, Jazz, Ballad, Classical, Soul, Blues, R&B, Gospel, Rock, Hip Hop, and Rap.

Hundreds of entries were received by the National Management Office and fifteen were selected as finalists.

Participants shared:

“Through Pondo ng Pinoy, I was able to continue my passion, and it is composing music. I was given a chance to create music for the people amid the pandemic. Pondo ng Pinoy has been true to its goal, not just supporting the poor but also the talented people,” said Jeremy Roldan People’s Choice Award via Youtube.

“Salamat sa Pondo ng Pinoy sa pagsasagawa ng ganitong activity masaya na makasali. Dahil sa ganitong sitwasyon natin na tayo ay nasa pandemic ay madami ang na sa bahay, kaya naman sa ganitong paraan ay mas nailalabas namin ang aming mga talento sa musika. Maraming salamat sa Pondo ng Pinoy dahil nakapag bigay ito ng hope and courage to be creative and express our emotions,” said Jeremiah Conejos, grand winner.  (Bebot Sabangan, PnPCFI)
